Here’s My Story.

My passion for Branding, Design & innovation led me to create Area & Unreel.fm. I play the Bagpipes & love to Travel. I’m currently on a Mission to give someone a fresh set of eyes. I share my thoughts on Twitter, my pics on Instagram & my words on Stage.

Say Hello

A monthly mixtape of innovative bagpipe music and commentary delivered to your inbox once a month. 100% free.

I was having dinner with a close friend, fellow designer & pipe band snare drummer Gleren Meneghin in late 2015. After a few glasses of merlot and plenty of bagpipe chat, we realised there was no online hub for a more progressive style of bagpipe music which the next generation are keen to listen to – unique, untraditional and bold. We know the talent and music are out there.

That same dinner we began sketching out ideas on paper and not long after had a clear vision for what is now Unreel.fm. We recruited fellow bagpiper and developer whiz Mael Sicard-Cras to help bring the designs to life and not long after had a glossy product ready to share with the world.

There is no revenue stream for us – purely a passion project to inspire a younger generation and engage a wider audience. We do however recognise the hard work our artists put into advancing their craft and have enabled listeners with the ability to toss a few bucks directly to the musician’s bank account.

The site launched April 1st 2016 and so far has over 2,500 subscribers to our newsletter, roughly 10,000 visits a month and have even had the site featured on multiple design blogs including SiteInspire.

Area is the new way to buy your next home, interacting with local estate agents so you don't have to, guiding you through the buying process from start to finish.

My wife and I sold our tiny flat in London in 2015 in exchange for a 5-bedroom farmhouse in Worcestershire. The process of selling and buying was super slow and frustrating. We spent countless hours hunting for new homes on Rightmove and Zoopla and were constantly bombarded by agents looking to flog us properties we weren’t interested in. You deal with more stakeholders than you can begin to remember and the journey from start-to-finish feels heavily disconnected.

The property industry hasn’t evolved much and knew there had to be an easier way.

Say hello to Area – home buying, made simple.

I came up with a few ideas on how you could reimagine the home buying and selling journey and pitched the concept to one of London’s largest estate agents – thankfully, they invested. Currently there is a team of amazing engineers, designers, operators and advisors in East London helping bring the Area platform to life.

This is where it all began…

A functional & efficient approach to brand and identity design.

My process begins with pen and paper – highlighting the key words and values I need to communicate within a design and sketching out ideas.

These sketches are then brought to life in vector and I continue to refine and tweak – often in doing this I’ll uncover new ideas. Once completed, I present a maximum of five concepts to the client, culling anywhere from twenty-to-thirty unique designs in the process – any more can confuse and distract.

After several rounds of iteration and continued discovery, we’re left with a brave and impactful design which takes on the essence of the brand and embodies it’s purpose.

I'm a graphic designer with over a decade of experience spanning identity, print, web & product design.

Everything I do comes from a place of simplicity and efficiency – my design process is no different. I create experiences which are understandable, honest, and long-lasting – even in today’s throwaway society. I’m brave, fearless but calculated in my work, ensuring function and strategy are at the forefront of every design decisions.

Below is a curated collection of web, digital product and print design work. You won’t find industry jargon or gimmicks here – I show the only thing the public sees – the work. I hope you see something you like.

Design, photos, food, travel, bagpipes, boxing, basketball, shoes, surf, sunshine, Karrie & my boy River Fox.

I started a small design practice five years ago called The Workshop – a collective of designers, engineers and entrepreneurs helping companies create new brands and products for mobile and beyond. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with brilliant minds, startups and established organisations along the way. I’ve also served as a creative advisor to several companies, including Yoyo Wallet – a mobile payments and loyalty platform, and more recently Area – a mobile proposition I co-founded looking to reimagine how you buy your next home.

In 2013 I co-founded The Give – a free community workshop series that brings together industry leaders to solve the greatest growth challenges facing a social enterprise. To date we’ve unlocked ideas for over 30 non-profit organisations including The Future Project, MBAs Across America & Mama Hope.

Prior to The Workshop I ran a brand design studio in New York City called Candescent. In 2010 we merged with The Ito Partnership – a brand strategy firm focused on social impact organisations.

When I’m not working, you can hear me playing the bagpipes…

I’ve been playing at a professional level since 16 years of age and am currently recognised on the world stage as a top soloist and composer. I’m also a member of the Scottish Power Pipe Band – one of the top pipe bands in the world. I’ve shared the concert stage with the London Philharmonic Orchestra & even my fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette.

Speaking of the bagpipes, I recently started Unreel.fm – a monthly mixtape of innovative bagpipe music and commentary. Until now there was no direct hub for a progressive style of bagpipe music which the next generation is keen to listen to these days.

I have a deep love for photography and my camera travels the world with me. A few years ago when I met my wife, we decided to pack our bags and tour all parts of Mexico for 3-months and created a little travel journal to document and share our adventures with family and friends called 10and3.

I geek out over well designed hotels and enjoy eating at some of the best restaurants in the world. I enjoy seeing others thrive and am currently mentoring the ‘Tribes’ of Escape the City. I have too many pairs of trainers, love to surf and before my laser eye surgery in 2015 owned 24 pairs of eyeglasses – because of this I started The Vision Mission which aims to give someone a fresh set of eyes. I’m inspired by people, buildings, music, conversations, Chef’s Table on Netflix, my wife Karrie & my son River Fox.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I started playing the bagpipes at 10 years of age and I'm not stopping anytime soon.

I currently play with the ScottishPower Pipe Band based in Glasgow, Scotland. I’ve been with the band for five years now and even when I lived in New York City made the journey at minimum once-a-month to Glasgow for practice, competitions and performances. You can listen to our latest album ‘Live’ on Spotify and watch us perform at the World Pipe Band Championships on the BBC below.

I compose music for bands around the world and have even shared the concert stage with Alanis Morissette & The London Philharmonic Orchestra.
